Wensleydale Railway will host its first-ever Indian curry train event in October to commemorate National Curry Week. In collaboration with Northallerton’s The Green Apple Tree Indian Restaurant, the evening event is being planned. Since 2024, the well-known neighbourhood eatery has partnered with Wensleydale Railway to provide genuine Indian food.

Enjoy a delightful Indian meal at your table while relaxing in one of the railway’s historic carriages as you travel through the Yorkshire Dales! On Monday, 6 October at 6.30 p.m., the heritage diesel-hauled train leaves Leeming Bar station and travels to Leyburn. The entire trip, including the meal, will take about two hours.

National Curry Week is an annual celebration of the UK’s long-running love affair with curry. This year the event takes place between 6 and 12 October and it encourages people to explore the diverse, rich flavours & aromas of curry and raises awareness of Indian cuisine and its significant contribution to British food culture. The first National Curry Week took place in October 1998 and its now in its 27th year of celebrating one of the world’s most popular cuisines.
