Harewood Inspired: Art and Mindful Making
A full-day workshop for Teachers and Educators
Aimed at teachers and educators with an interest in art and creativity, this artist-led workshop will explore Harewood as inspiration for your teaching, creativity and well-being. Inspired by our native birds, bird collection and the natural surroundings of Harewood, the session will encourage us to experience Harewood through art, making and mindfulness in the outdoors.
Artist Jo Blaker will give prompts and activity ideas, using drawing and other media as a way into feeling well, creative and connected to nature. Throughout the day, we’ll be making work outdoors, in the bird garden and around the site as well as studio-based activities.
Providing participants with space to be creative and to learn new skills and techniques, this day is a perfect way to recharge your creative batteries at the end of a wintry term! We’ll also look at how you can take ideas back into the classroom through project work or schemes of work inspired by Harewood.
Jo Blaker is an artist and designer based in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire and is also a hill-walker, bird-watcher, pebble-picker and tree-lover. She works with pencil, ink and a range of other tools to create illustrations and design products that have a loose hand-drawn feel and are inspired by the natural world. Jo holds an MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art and shares her love of playful creativity through workshops and learning projects.
